Life cycle:
After eggs are laid, mealworms will reach adulthood in about 1 month (1"-1.25" length). They will remain in the larval stage for 2-2.5 months. Exoskeletons are shed several times before pupa (alien) stage. Pupa stage can last 1-3 weeks. Beetles can live 3 months to 1 year.
